Spring Muster - 19th/20th May 2001

Ten boats in three classes raced from Kip to Tarbert, in a breeze which was initially fitful but which filled to a brisk north-westerly once round Garroch Head. Twelve boats berthed in Tarbert, including Geoff Campbell in Flying Squad who very kindly acted as Officer of the Day. It was a particular pleasure to welcome Roy Weir who sailed Farabout, owned by new recruit Chic Petrie, into second place in class 3.

Fifty-two members and guests sat down to dinner in the Anchor Hotel, and an enjoyable, relaxed evening ensued.

Sunday morning dawned bright and sunny, and the five yachts entered in the ladies race set off at a brisk pace on a reach towards Kames. A raft up in the Kyles of Bute followed, to round off what was another memorable Serpent weekend.

Clyde Summer BBQ - 16th June 2001

This event was brought forward by a week, to allow more boats to attend; however, the weather maps tell all, and only a select few rafted up in Fearnoch Bay in the East Kyle for drinks on Saturday afternoon.

Summer Muster at Craobh - 21st & 22nd July

The barbeque on Saturday evening was attended by the Commodore, the Vice Commodore and no fewer than 6 past Commodores. The gourmet chefs were Chris Garrigan and George Gray, despite which everyone enjoyed a thoroughly sociable occasion!

On Sunday morning at the crack of 11 o'clock "Guilty" fired the start gun for the keenly contested Round Shuna Race. Six boats took part together with Alastair Gardner's "Folies de Grandeur" which didn't actually enter but sailed along in fine style with a shanghaid crew of John and Stephen Short (currently boatless having sold the beautiful "Strega" and awaiting a new HR36). Ian Harris in "Swedish Lady" led from the start and his first place was never in doubt. Closer racing was to be had between "Euroblue", Ian Morton and "Black Pepper", Iain Sinclair, with the former taking second place by only 42 seconds. The other places were a creditable 4th for Alan Faichney in the first outing for "Diva" his new Naiad 370 followed by Ernest Bennie in "Que Chica" and Brian Jennett in "Jennevieve". Many thanks to Douglas and Margaret Clow for providing the Committee boat for the race which brought an enjoyable weekend to a close.

Autumn Muster - 15th & 16th September

The autumn muster was once more to the Holy Loch. Four boats, all in the restricted sail class, raced in blustery conditions on Saturday from Kip with Farabout taking line honours and Corsair first place on corrected time. With the boats safely berthed in the new Holy Loch Marina, it was off to La Cantina in Dunoon for dinner. An excellent evening ensued.

The pursuit race on Sunday was held in lighter winds and pleasant sunshine, and was won by Ravel's Bolero.
